The Courtyard by Marriott Charleston needed a lobby presence that punched above its brand tier — something that said boutique hotel, not chain property. BHDP Architecture specified a dramatic multi-arm chandelier as the lobby centerpiece, complemented by coordinating pendants that carried the same design language through the adjacent lounge areas.
Renaissance engineered the chandelier with a modular arm structure that allowed the fixture to ship in sections and assemble on-site without specialized rigging — a critical consideration for a renovation project where the lobby couldn't close for extended periods. The pendant fixtures echoed the chandelier's geometry at a smaller scale, creating visual continuity from the entrance through to the dining area.
The result transforms the guest arrival experience, giving the property a distinctive identity that stands apart from the standard Courtyard playbook.
