Westin Renaissance Washington DC

When Sunstone K9 approached Renaissance with the spec package for the Westin Renaissance DC lobby renovation, the scope was ambitious: 37 custom fixtures spanning six distinct fixture types, all unified by a warm copper-and-brass material palette that needed to feel both contemporary and timeless in one of Washington's most recognizable hotel lobbies.

The challenge wasn't just volume — it was range. The same project demanded sculptural reception pendants with hand-formed copper shades, ADA-compliant corridor sconces engineered to meet strict clearance requirements, triple-mounted wall pendants for the charcuterie dining area, and oversized floor lamps for the bar and main lounge. Each fixture type required its own engineering approach, but they all had to read as one cohesive family.

Renaissance's CAD team translated the designer's vision into buildable shop drawings, working through three rounds of refinement on the reception pendants alone — adjusting the shade geometry, stem proportions, and mounting hardware until the silhouette matched the architect's intent. The floor lamps went through a separate prototyping cycle to ensure the weighted bases met hospitality stability standards without looking industrial.

Every piece was fabricated, finished, and inspected in Renaissance's Roanoke workshop before white-glove delivery to the DC site. The result is a lobby that feels intentionally curated — warm copper tones threading through every sightline, from the moment a guest enters to the last lamp at the bar.
